yellow2Wandering through the fields with the hounds, the spring growth of the crops is so fast that the wheat is visibly taller each day. Suddenly, everywhere I see has become a patchwork of bright yellow rapeseed flowering. I look down the lovely rolling hills into Pewsey Vale and the light changes every minute with the clouds. Sometimes, everything is bright green and, then, as a cloud passes, it’s almost black.
From where I walk, on the middle distance hills, there is a field of yellow rape which runs all along the crest of the scarp, giving a tiny yellow glow to the darkness of the fields below. Against a lowering dark blue sky, it’s so strange. I try to photograph this line without much success, it seems much wider to the eye, in the camera, barely visible.
