This month has had such beautiful weather, warm and even hot sometimes … and very still, the autumn leaves are beginning to fall and slowly the green is turning to red and brown in the trees. The field borders are full of seed heads and the giant hog weed is now tall and elegant in its silver skeletal state. There is a field nearby in which one can walk through a tunnel of the now-silver hogweed, dodging the spiders hanging low on their webs, its a strange sort of enchanted forest. My grapes are in danger of actually ripening this year – if the warmth can continue a little longer. Sad that I shall leave this vine just as it has become a real proper taverna-like cover to the deck – and now absolutely covered in grapes.
